Nadine started going to an open self-defense class in a village nearby with friends, and the same trainer also offers self-defense for kids, so Tilian and I had the chance to go there together on Saturday. It was an open training, the trainer showed us a few things from boxing, how to dodge punches, how to duck and how to defend yourself from there. Most of it was pair exercises, so Tilian and I could do a lot together, and I let him hit a bit harder now and then. All in all it was a great bonding exercise, Tilian clearly had a lot of fun and was pretty worn out afterwards, he went to bed early and slept in.

I took the photo before we left for the training.
We’ll definitely keep going. It’s every other weekend and takes two hours, but I think it’s a nice change, and maybe it’s good that it isn’t in the evening after school when the day has already been too long, like Tilian’s other sports.
I’m also happy that Nadine found a cool activity she can do in her free time. Of course I got to be the test subject right away for all the new holds and defense moves she had learned, so let’s see what the future brings for me.
