Summer Vacation, Day 13: Penzance

We moved on from Heligan to Penzance today, we are staying at Ponsandane Farm Campsite close to the beach. Only 70 km. We made a short stop at Mounts Bay to see St Michael’s Mount.

Unfortunately you cannot enter the island with a dog between May and September, and outside of this period you can only walk there and not take a boat as dogs are not permitted there either. You can walk to the island during low tide but this was also not the case when we showed up. I took a quick photo with the Canon R5 and Sigma telephoto lens - it was too hazy to get a proper picture; then we moved on to the campsite and to the beach. The campsite is rather practical but in generally good shape, the flora has a nice Mediterranean touch. We were quite bummed not to go to St Michael’s Mount as we visited Mont Saint-Michel four years ago with Tilian. It was way too crowded back then and we had to cut short our visit there, yet we learned there is a twin mount on the other side of the Channel so we had to go here.
