Schäm-dich

I enjoy cooking for Nadine. We both adopted the term “Schäm-dich” for food that should be under strict control of being eaten. The phrase is our translation of the English “shame stick”, which comes from a TV show with James Belushi, where it is a stick of butter rolled in sugar. In my head I misremembered it being related to Elvis Presley, who enjoyed a lot of Schäm-dichs.

This morning I made pancakes with chocolate spread and peanut butter for the boys, Nadine got her “Schäm-dich”: double-layer pancake with melted vegan cheese, vegan bacon, vegan sausages, strawberry jam and two eggs from our chicken coop.
