Summer Vacation, Day 4: Norman's Bay

From New Romney we moved on to Norman’s Bay. A short 55 km drive through narrow roads. Knock on wood, no misbehaving on the road today from my side - it feels like the drivers in the UK are very careful if they see someone with a foreign license plate.

The morning was long and relaxed, walk with Aika and no pictures of local wildlife outside of the camping ground. The camping ground itself surprised me with the variety of tame-ish birds: goldfinch, common chaffinch, magpies, green woodpecker and wagtails. We got breakfast supplies at the local cafe. Next to a loaf of bread, I ordered coffee and tea, forgetting that these come with milk included. Tilian took a funny picture of me, slightly out of focus. I love it!

On the way to tonight’s pitch at Norman’s Bay Caravan Park we stopped at The Star Inn, a small local restaurant and pub. Earlier I asked Nadine if she was looking forward to the traditional pub experience and voilà, we came by one. We got chips, vegan tart and salad - and a fresh pint from the tap for Nadine (quote: “Exactly what I needed.”).

We arrived early at the caravan park, set everything up and went straight to the beach! The boys had been yearning for the water.

Nadine captured this angry-looking goldfinch once we were back at the pitch.
